MS have blundered yet again by not extricating W7 from the taint of Vista. Keeping the same UI look-and-feel is a BIG mistake. After installing the RC, I wondered what the fuss is all about. Looks like the tech media has closed ranks in talking up Win7. After all, they don't want to kill the golden goose. Most make a living from writing about Windows and another failed release would mean curtains to their journalistic aspirations.

I only use others as guinea pigs. I'll stick with my XP. Found nothing in Win7 worth the upgrade. The startup and shutdown were fast - big deal. I am not giving another cent to Intel or MS after falling for their "Vista Ready" scam.

"* To up its geek cred, Microsoft is planning a series of commercials starring actress Jeri Ryan, who played Borg hottie Seven of Nine in “Star Trek Voyager.” Mostly because Ballmer’s always wanted to nail her."<br><br>EVERYBODY wants to nail her. Even the girl-geeks!

Be as it may, Windows 7 is even bigger crap than Vista (and I disliked and found it unusualy annoying from MSDN first issue). Recently, I was forced to use Vista SP1 on my laptop (drivers heh), it performed ok. I went into the hype of Win 7, upgrade took about two hours (on two core CPU!), needed 16 GB (!) free space on the drive, mouse pad mysteriously turns on, search is OMGWTFIT system but maybe I'll get used to it. Billion people can't be wrong and I am declaring publicly that I'm the odd one. Right here and effective immediately. For me, Windows 7 is nothing more than revamped Vista SP1 with a new name and several less familiar options. Nothing more nor less. Viva Winjaculation! :-D

"22-hour XP upgrades". That is totally false. There IS NO direct upgrade route from XP to Win7. Some Vista upgrades have taken more than 10 hours apparently.
