iLickIt: Spreading iNfection Through iPhones
Craving something disgusting? Try iLickIt, a new iPhone app that encourages you to lick the face of your filthy phone.
We’ve seen plenty of idiotic iPhone apps over the months, but a new program introduced this week may take the cake when it comes to terrible use of smartphone technology.
The app, called iLickIt, times how long it takes you to “lick” up an entire food item displayed on your iPhone’s screen. You select the food item of your choice, then literally use your tongue to erase it from the display. The quicker you lick, the more points you receive.
Behold:
If you think the app itself is bad, just wait till you read some of the promotional material from the developer’s blog:
“The appreview team faced with a huge challenge during the tests: most employer dried out and they asked for more review time. I think the problem is, that Apple corporate style don’t really familiar with licking and nobody had enough experience to test the program.
But some days before somebody called me from Apple in a dying voice, actually showing the clear symptom of the final phase of serious desiccation, and told me that application need some minor modification in the keyword section and that’s all.
Actually the development phase wasn’t easier either. Unfortunately we licked so much that we thought it’s a suck.”
We’re not positive, but we think he’s saying the app hasn’t been approved yet — it doesn’t pop up in a search on iTunes, anyway — so that’s at least some reassurance that the world might still be sane.
Let’s just hope the adult-oriented version doesn’t pop up anytime soon.
