Microsoft’s Bing Jingle: A Heartfelt Ballad

Microsoft has put out a call for user-submitted Bing jingles. We’ve written a little ditty to try to help — a melancholy ballad set to the tune of The Beatles’ “Yesterday.”

Microsoft Bing JingleMicrosoft is hoping its users can help come up with a catchy Bing jingle — a “Bingle,” as the official Bing blog says. The company’s calling on the public to submit videos of Bing-related tunes in exchange for the chance to win a fabulous prize (which may or may not involve getting the phrase “PLEASE USE BING” tattooed on your forehead).

We’ve busted out rhymes about Bing before, but we figured we’d step up to the plate and give it another whirl. With our apologies to Sir Paul, here is “Yesterday: A Song of Search Remorse,” set to the tune of The Beatles’ classic (embedded below for your reference).

Yesterday,
All our traffic seemed less far away.
We’d just come up with this catchy name.
Oh, now we see, it’s kinda lame.

Suddenly,
Bing’s not half the brand it used to seem.
No one’s coming, and we want to scream.
The honeymoon…ended suddenly.

Why you
Won’t try Bing, we don’t know. You can’t be swayed.
We tried everything, now we long for yesterday.

Yesterday,
Our Live Search offered you some real pay.
Just to use it — yeah, hard cash to play.
Oh, we believed…you would obey.

Why you wouldn’t come, we don’t know. But we still pray.
You will…one day try our new site, maybe today.

Yesterday,
Search was such an easy game to play.
Now no one will click onto our page.
Oh, how we hate, oh Oogle-Gay.

(Pig Latin…makes that rhyme okay.)

Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm mmm mmm mmm.
