BREAKING: Buzz Lightyear Sues Google Buzz
Pixar star vows to sue Google “to infinity and beyond” for misappropriating his name. An eSarcasm exclusive.
Two days after unveiling its complete ripoff of FriendFeed Twitter- and Facebook-killing social media app, Google Buzz is facing a legal challenge over its name.
This morning, the beloved star of Pixar’s Toy Story series filed a trademark suit against Google, claiming that he owns the rights to the name Buzz.
“I’ve had the name Buzz since before the Evil Emperor Zurg destroyed Planet Porcelon,” said the intergalatic space ranger. “I’ll sue them to infinity and beyond if I have to.”
The service, which allows Gmail users to eavesdrop at will on anyone else foolish enough to create a Google Profile, has come under fire from other would-be trademark holders as well. Yahoo Buzz, Buzz Media, Buzz Marketing, Buzz Flash, and about 10,000 others have indicated they may join Lightyear in suing Google.
Former Apollo astronaut Buzz Aldrin was recording a rap video and could not be reached for comment.
